GAME 6: “Tangled up in (orange and) Blue”

GAME 6 - Nats Park
deGrom vs Roark
Mets 7, Nats 4604226655_ESa_NYM__0819

With their back up against the wall the Amazin’s had game 6 starter Jacob deGrom on a very tight leash.  After NY jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2nd and deGrom gave those runs right back the leash got tigher.  When NY added 4 big runs in the top of the 3rd deGrom knew he had to get out to that mound and protect it.  After getting the first out of the inning something tightened up in his shoulder and that marked the end of his day.  New York was now forced to rely on a cavalcade of relievers to get them to Familia in the 9th.  Goedel (who got the win), Blevins (2 scoreless IP), Lugo (shaky) and Reed (scoreless 8th) were up to the task.  Familia fanned 2 as part of a perfect 9th and just like that this series was headed to a decisive game 7.  Once again NY went deep multiple (3) times.  Conforto, Duda and  Cabrera did the damage.  Yoenis Cespedes didn’t go yard, but he was 3 for 5 with a run scored, an RBI and a walk.

Series tied 3-3
